大日本魚類画集は、「原色木版二百度手摺り」といわれる色鮮やかな木版画集で、昭和12年～昭和19年にかけて全6集72点が500部限定で出版されました。
「本邦初の魚類生態画」という謳い文句の通り、魚たちの泳ぐ姿やその生活環境までも丁寧に描写した作品で、麦風はまだ珍しかった水族館に通うだけでなく、和歌浦沖で潜水艇に乗り、魚の生態を観察したそうです。

”Fish Picture Collection of Japan” is a collection of vividly colored woodblock prints known as "original color woodblock prints printed by hand 200 times" and was published from 1937 to 1944 in a limited edition of 500 copies for a total of 72 prints in six collections.
As the title "Japan's first ecological paintings of fish" suggests, the works carefully depict the swimming form of fish and even their living environment.
