信玄の知恵袋と評された山本勘助、真田一族のなど、武田家には古くから有能な家臣が多く、信玄の代になると武田二十四将としてその名を轟かせた。
芳員は国芳の門人で、作画期は嘉永頃から明治3年頃にかけてである。武者絵、花鳥画、草双紙の挿絵などを描いた。横浜開港後は異人の生活風俗に興味を持ち、横浜絵の先駆者として数多くの作品を手掛けた。

The Takeda family has long had many capable vassals, such as Yamamoto Kansuke, who was described as Shingen's best adviser, and the Sanada clan. They had widely known as 24 Takeda generals.
Yoshikazu was a pupil of Kuniyoshi and was active from around Kaei to the 3rd year of Meiji. He painted warriors, flower and bird paintings, and illustrations for Kusazoshi (books). After the opening of the port of Yokohama, he became interested in the lifestyle and customs of foreigners and produced many works as a pioneer of Yokohama-e.
