This piece depicts Kidomaru, with a terrifying countenance, attacking Yorimitsu. Kidomaru, harboring a grudge against Yorimitsu, ambushed him, but Yorimitsu saw through his plan and swiftly dispatched him with a single stroke of his sword.
Yoshitora was a disciple of Kuniyoshi and one of the prominent artists active from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period. His most notable works were in the genre of Yokohama-e and Kaika-e, depicting the novel customs emerging around the time of the Meiji Restoration.
