芳晴は国芳の門人で、はじめは中村芝翫に弟子入りを申し込んだが、養父は役者になられるよりはと、幾三郎が23歳の時に国芳の門人にさせたという。
初名は芳晴と称し、慶応の頃に芳春と改名している。作画期は弘化から明治20年代頃で、晩年は大阪で此花新聞の挿絵を描いた。
この作品では、暗闇に浮かび上がる白勝の力強い身体と魔物の眼が印象的な戦いの局面を描く。

Yoshiharu was a pupil of Kuniyoshi.
In the beginning, Yoshiharu had applied to be a pupil of the actor Shikan Nakamura, however, his adoptive father didn't agree on it, so he became a pupil of Kuniyoshi rather than an actor.
At first, he was named Yoshiharu (芳晴) but he changed his name to Yoshiharu (芳春) in the late Edo period. He was working as a Ukiyo-e artist from Edo to Meiji '20s. In his last years, he drew illustrations for The Konohana Shimbun newspapers.
Hakusho's powerful body and the monster's eyes which is emerged out from the complete darkness.
This attractive artwork is the depiction of the stage of the battle between Hakusyo and the monster.
