6枚にわたり、応仁の乱が描かれた迫力のある一枚。
山崎にて、山名軍と細川軍が左右から大軍勢で押し寄せる様子が、貞秀が得意とした鳥瞰的な視点で描かれている。
貞秀は国貞の門人で、慶応3年のパリ万博に出品の際には芳宗と共に浮世絵師の総代をつとめた。明治元年の絵師番付において、第1位にもなっている。
貞秀は美人画、役者絵、横浜絵、開化絵などクオリティの高い作品を多く残しているが、特筆すべきは鳥瞰による一覧図。貞秀は地理にも強い関心を持ち、様々な場所を旅して制作にあたったという。

This is a powerful artwork depicting the Onin-War over six sheets.
It depicts the Yamana and Hosokawa forces attacking each other at Yamazaki, from a bird's eye view, which was Sadahide's forte.
Sadahide was a pupil of Kunisada. In 1867, when he participated in the Paris Expo, he and Yoshimune were representative of the whole Ukiyo-e artist. He also took first place in the ranking of the best Ukiyo-e artist of 1968.
The specially mentioned his artwork is the attractive bird’s‐eye view, for instance, Yokohama-e. He was also interested in geography and traveled to various places in Japan, and left beautiful artworks.
