左側に見えるのは、村人を困らせた悪龍である。伝説によると、龍は人々の祈念によって現れた白馬を食らい、たちまち石へと姿を変えられてしまったのだという。
観音霊験記 秩父順礼は、秩父に点在する観音霊場を関連する逸話と共に描いたシリーズ。上部に寺の境内の図が、下部に霊験の逸話が描かれている。

The one who was transformed into a giant stone was an evil dragon that annoyed the villagers. According to the legend, the dragon turned to stone as soon as it ate the white horse, which appeared through the prayers of the people.
"Amazing Stories of Kannon Temples of Chichibu" is a series of Kannon's sacred temples scattered throughout Chichibu with related anecdotes. The upper picture depicts the temple, and the lower picture depicts anecdotes of spiritual experiences.
