「三菱深川別邸の図」は岩崎家清澄別邸と庭園を描いた８図のシリーズ。三菱本社の関係者、得意先への贈呈用として大正９年に制作された。三菱が国内だけでなく海外の関係者へも贈呈したことで、巴水の名が世界的に知られるきっかけの一つとなった。
川瀬巴水は、元々は日本画家として活躍していたが、大正7年に発表された伊東深水の木版画作品、「近江八景」に感銘を受け、版画家に転向した。
その後は新版画の第一人者として活躍し、約40年にわたる画業のなかで、多くの版画作品を残し、その数は600点にも及ぶ。
巴水の特徴的な青色は、その場の空気さえも宿す深い味わいを持ち、「巴水ブルー」と称される。

This is a part of the series of eight paintings depicting the Iwasaki family's Kiyosumi villa and garden. It was produced in 1920 as a gift to Mitsubishi head office officials and clients. The fact that Mitsubishi presented them not only to people in Japan but also to people overseas made the name of Hasui well known throughout the world.
KAWASE Hasui was originally active as a Japanese painter but switched to printmaking artist by being impressed by ITO Shinsui's woodblock artwork "Eight Views of Omi" published in 1918.
After that, he became active as a leading artist of the Shinhanga field, and left behind many print works in his 40 years of painting, numbering over 600.
Hasui's characteristic blue color is called "Hasui Blue" because it has a deep impression that even includes the atmosphere of the places that are sketched.
