光逸は、清親の門人の中でも最年少であったため、画業の手伝いをする傍ら小林家の家事全般にも勤しんだ。
昭和6年に「小林清親翁十七回忌記念展覧会」を開催していた渡辺庄三郎と出会い、翌年「第3回現代創作木版画展覧会」において「祇園の夜桜」と「大阪城の月夜」の2点を版行。60歳を過ぎてから新版画家としてデビューした。

As the youngest of Kiyochika's students, Kouitsu assisted him with his painting work and also took care of the general household chores of the Kobayashi family.
In 1931, he met Watanabe Shozaburo, who was holding an exhibition commemorating the 17th anniversary of Kiyochika's death, and the following year he published two woodblock prints, " Evening Cherry Blossoms at Gion" and "Moonlit Evening at Osaka Castle," at the "The 3rd exhibition of Modern print” sponsored by Watanabe. He debuted as a Shin-Hanga artist after he turned 60.
