こちらは約50センチ四方の大きなおもちゃ絵で、中心に回転する長方形の仕掛けが付いている。中心から2周目の円には人気歌舞伎役者と川の名が書かれており、3周目の円にはその川にまつわると思われる唄と役者絵が施されている。推測の域を出ないが、当唄占いとあるため、唄と役者名、そして役者絵から作品名や役名、あるいは何か他のものを当てて遊んだものだろうか。いずれにせよ、江戸の人々が大変豊かな遊びを楽しんでいた事が窺える。

国周は周信及び豊国三代の門人で、小島烏水によって「明治の写楽」と称せられた。3枚続に役者一人を描くという新しい構成は国周が創始したとされる。明治期における役者絵浮世絵師の代表的存在であり、作品数も多く、明治演劇史の資料としても大変価値がある。
国周は自らも認めているほどの変わった性格をしていたという。住いと妻を変えることが癖で、本人によると転居は117回であり、同じく転居の多かった北斎と比べ「絵は北斎には及ばないが、転居数では勝っている」と誇っていたという。妻も40人余り変え、長続きすることは無かった。酒と遊びが大好きで、画料が入っても宵越しの金は持たないとばかりにすぐ使ってしまい、晩年は着物一枚で過ごし舞台に出る役者をスケッチする「中見」の際には版元から着物を貸してもらうほどだったという。

This is a large toy print (Omocha-e), approximately 50 cm square, with a rotating rectangular paper in the center. The second circle from the center has the names of famous Kabuki actors and river names written on it, and the third circle is decorated with poems and actor pictures related to the river. Although it is a matter of guesswork, according to the title of this piece, the name of the song, the actor's name, and the actor's picture may have been used to guess the name of the work or role, or perhaps something else. In any case, the people of Edo enjoyed a very knowledgeable game.

Kunichika pioneered the triptych of actor Ukiyo-e and is one of the essential Ukiyo-e artists who depicted the kabuki actors. Since he left various kabuki prints, these are also worth in the study field of kabuki play archives.
His character was sometimes described as odd, not only by others but also by himself. For instance, he had changed houses and wives many times. He had altered houses 117 times.
He said. "My painting is not as good as Hokusai's, however, I'm superior to Hokusai in the number of times of moving houses."
He had married over 40 women, and it had never lasted.
He loves alcohol and women, and he spends money wastefully, and there is an episode that he had to borrow clothes from the publisher for the work of sketching the kabuki actors.
He was also a merciful person, so he couldn't ignore if someone needed help. He sometimes gave something prepared for the guests to someone else.
