この作品の主役は、伝説的な怪力の持ち主として知られる五郎太です。彼が巨大な岩を軽々と持ち上げ、今まさに投げつけようとしているダイナミックな姿が描かれています。なぜ長窪の宿にこの人物が選ばれたかというと、やはり地名にちなんだ連想が働いています。長窪の近くには「石割坂」という名所があり、その「石を割る」という力強い響きから、岩を砕くほどの怪力を持つ五郎太がキャスティングされました。

The reason this figure was chosen for the Nagakubo station is rooted in a clever association with the local geography. Near Nagakubo lies a famous spot called Ishiwarizaka (literally "Stone-Splitting Slope"); inspired by the powerful imagery of "splitting stones," the artist cast Gorōta—whose strength could crush even the hardest rock—as the star of this scene.
