Kiyoshi Saito was fascinated by the woodblock prints of Sotaro Yasui and learned woodblock printing on his own.
His unique style, which incorporated the techniques of ukiyoe and the modern forms of Western art, was more popular overseas than in Japan. Later, it spread to Japan as a kind of reimportation of his reputation.
