Hoshi Joichi was known for his detailed woodblock prints depicting trees, and he spent his life printing a variety of trees as if he were fascinated by them. He made various attempts and researches, such as burning the woodblocks with a burner, and his works are in the collections of not only domestic museums (National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art) but also museums around the world (Museum of Modern Art, New York, Art Institute of Chicago, National Museum of Berlin, Haifa Museum of Art, etc.).
