星襄一は木版で精細に木を表現することで知られており、その生涯をかけて魅せられたように様々な木の作品を刷り上げた。星は版木をバーナーで焼くなど様々な試みと研究を重ね、その作品は国内の美術館（東京国立近代美術館・千葉県立美術館）のみならず世界各地の美術館（ニューヨーク近代美術館・シカゴ美術館・ベルリン国立博物館・ハイファ美術館等）にも所蔵されている。

Hoshi Joichi was known for his detailed woodblock prints depicting trees, and he spent his life printing a variety of trees as if he were fascinated by them. He made various attempts and researches, such as burning the woodblocks with a burner, and his works are in the collections of not only domestic museums (National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art) but also museums around the world (Museum of Modern Art, New York, Art Institute of Chicago, National Museum of Berlin, Haifa Museum of Art, etc.).
