Kyosai entered the school of Kuniyoshi, however, he decided to become a pupil of Maemura Towa, one of the artists from the Kano school, later.
Towa loved Kyosai's talent and called him a "painting demon." In 1858, Kyosai left Kano school and named "Seisei Kyosai" himself and started drawing caricatures and gaining popularity.
