Konobu was an ukiyoe artist active in Osaka who studied under his father Sadanobu I and Utagawa Yoshiume, and later succeeded his father as Sadanobu II.
In this painting, he depicts the bustling Senso-ji Temple in the midst of a pouring rain, with people holding umbrellas in front of their heads.
