籠渡し（かごわたし）とは、橋を架けることができない場所に綱を渡し、籠を使って往復したものである。
飛騨のものは、神通川の上流、白川村の渓流をはじめとする急流に設けられた。
「六十余州名所図会」（ろくじゅうよしゅうめいしょずえ）は、広重による日本全国の名所を描いたシリーズ。
全図とも画面は縦長で、前景を大きく描き遠近を強調するなど、斬新な構図がとられている。

Since ancient times to Edo-era, people had used basket ferry at the place which was difficult to build bridges. In Hida province, the basket ferry had used at the upstream of Jinzu river and the mountain stream around Shirakawa village.
"Famous Places in the 60-Odd Provinces" is a series by Hiroshige depicting famous places throughout Japan.
All of the works are vertically oriented, with innovative compositions such as a large foreground and emphasis on perspective.
