六十余州名所図会は、広重による日本全国の名所を描いた連作。
出雲大社の縁結びのご利益は、大国大神が、天照大神に国譲りをした際、世の中すべてのものが幸福であるためにあらゆるものの縁を結んだという伝説から来ているとされる。
「ほとほと」は、訪問者が戸を叩くことを指す擬音で、当時参拝者が行っていた儀式的な行為を指す。
来訪者は小正月にほとほとと戸口を叩いてお祝い事を言い、捧げものを置いておく。するとその恩寵として藁細工などがもらえたそうだ。この作品に描かれた女性たちもほとほとをしに来たと思われる。

"Famous Places in the 60-Odd Provinces" is the scenery series that was created by Hiroshige. The motifs are famous and popular places in Japan.
Izumo-Taisha Shrine is famous for the tradition of that there is the benefit of connecting various good relationships.
"Hotohoto" is the onomatopoeic word that describes the sound of knocking the doors.
In this artwork, Hotohoto is used as the meaning of the religious ritual.
People put the present in front of the door of the shrine and did "Hotohoto", and the shrine gave them goodwill items.
The ladies on this artwork look that they are on their way home from Hotohoto.
