Eizan had learned the painting technique by his father, and later learned from Suzuki Nanrei. He also studied the techniques of Hokusai school by Hokkei who is Eizan's childhood friend. His name had became known as an Up-and-coming Ukiyo-e artist after Utamaro died suddenly. The depicted beautiful women created an atmosphere including the kind of impermanent beauty, and these artworks had led the new wave of the period.
