This work expresses Yorimitsu tries to capture Hakamadare who is a famous master thief in the Heian-era.
In the center of this work, there are a black bear blends into the darkness and a monster serpent is about to swallow the bear with ease. On the far right is a waterfall that roars in the dark night, behind which Hakamadare uses witchcraft. Minamoto no Yorimitsu and the big four confront Hakamadare with the Japanese swords in their hands.
Utagawa Yoshitsuya (1822 - 66) is an Ukiyo-e artist who was active at the end of Edo-era. Yoshitsuya was one of the pupils of Kuniyoshi.
