為朝は五人がかりで引くような強弓を、一人で使いこなすほどの豪腕で、左腕が右腕より12㎝も長かったと言われている。
為朝は伊豆諸島に一大勢力を築きあげるが、保元の乱から14年経った1170年、とうとう討伐命令が出された。攻め寄せる朝廷軍に対し、最期に一矢を報いようと、討伐軍の船に矢を放った。すると約300人ほどを乗せた朝廷軍の船がたちまち沈んだと言う。

It is said that Tametomo was a powerful arm who could use a strong bow that was pulled by five people alone.
Tametomo builds a large force in the Izu Islands, but in 1170, 14 years after the Hogen rebellion, a subjugation order was finally issued.
He fired an arrow at the ship of the subjugation army to retaliate against the imperial court army at the end.
Then, it is said that the ship of the imperial court army carrying about 300 people sank immediately.
