美人十二姿は、それぞれの月の象徴的なシーンと美人を組み合わせたシリーズ。
四季の移り変わりの一コマを美しい構図でとらえ、隅々まで隙がない。物語を感じさせるドラマチックな表現は見事である。
年英は芳年の門人として浮世絵を学んだ。躍動感のある人物像からも師の芳年影響が窺える。日清・日露戦争では戦争画を多く制作し、大正5年に脳溢血で倒れるも伝統的な木版画技術を後世に残すため精力的な活動を続けた。
