築地ホテル館は、幕末の慶応4年に外国人向けに建設された日本初の本格的なホテルである。西洋式の建物や設備は大変珍しく連日多くの見物客で賑わったが、明治5年の銀座大火によりたった4年でその幕を閉じた。
広重三代は広重の門人で文久頃から重政と称して作画を始めたが、慶応元年に広重二代が師の家を去った後に広重三代と称した。広重三代は開化絵の名手として名高く、からりとした明治前期の時代色を良く伝えている。

Tsukiji hotel was built in 1868 for foreign people and was the first full-scale hotel in Japan.
Since the western facilities and equipment were unusual for the almost citizen of Edo at that time, a lot of people visited there to see it. This beautiful building was sadly destroyed by fire in 1872. It happened just 4 years later since this hotel had built.
HiroshigeⅢ was a pupil of Hiroshige. His first artist name was Shigemasa, and after HiroshigeⅡ left his master, he changed his name to HiroshigeⅢ. HiroshigeⅢ had earned the reputation with the depictions of the civilization during the change from the Edo era to the Meiji era.
