式麿の詳細は未だ謎に包まれているが、歌麿の弟子である月麿のもとで学んだと考えられている。
この「今容女歌仙」は、本絵に当時の現代的な美女を、枠内に三十六歌仙の有名な詩を組み合わせたシリーズ。「今様」が「現代的な」という意味を表している。絵と歌が関連していたかは定かではないが、不朽の名歌をその当時のデザインに組み込み、当時の人々にその良さを伝えていたのではないだろうか。

The details of Shikimaro are still a mystery, but it is believed that he studied under Utamaro's pupil, Tsukimaro.
The "Imayo Onna Kasen" series is a combination of modern ladies of the time in the main painting and famous poems of the 36 poets in the frame. The word "Imayo" means "modern”.
It is not clear whether the paintings and the poems were related, but it is likely that the immortal poems were incorporated into the designs of the time to convey their merits to the people of the time.
