中央で剣を振るうのは牛若丸、のちの源義経である。
伝説によると、11歳（15歳説もある）の時、自分の出生を知った牛若丸は、僧になることを拒否して鞍馬山を駆け回り、武芸に励んだ鞍馬山で天狗の面を被った落人から剣術の手解きを受けたとされている。
国綱は豊国の門人で、作画期は文政から万延の頃にかけてとされている。武者絵等においてその技量を発揮した。

The man wielding the sword in the center is Ushiwakamaru, later known as Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
According to legend, when Ushiwakamaru learned of his birth at the age of eleven (some say fifteen), he refused to become a monk and ran around Mount Kurama, where he was trained in the art of swordsmanship by a fleeing warrior wearing a tengu mask.
Kunitsuna was one of the pupils of Toyokuni the 1st and was active from c.1818~1860.
He had the talent to create the artworks of the warriors.
