画面いっぱいに大象が描かれた大迫力の1枚。上の表記には天竺（現在のインド）から3歳の象がやってきて見世物になっていたとある。
当時日本にはいなかった象を反り返って見上げる町人の表情も面白い。
了古は江戸の終わりから明治初期にかけて風俗画や諷刺画を描いた絵師。
