Minamoto no Yoritomo's retainers are crossing the Oi river folding their arms.
Yoritomo is in the palanquin that is depicted in the middle of the center part.
Yoshitsuya was one of the pupils of Kuniyoshi. Since Yoshitsuya drew strong brushwork and had a good sense of the beautiful color combinations, Kuniyoshi named him Yoshitsuya. Tsuya means beauty.
He had a talent for depicting warriors and was a good rival of Kuniteru. They had competed for the technique of the drawing of tattoos. The citizen said, "Yoshitsuya is about Jiraiya, and Kuniteru is about Kitsune Tadanobu."
