This is a series depicting a series of tea ceremonies. It seems to have been created in response to the fact that the tea ceremony, which had previously been a taste of men, began to spread to women during the Meiji period.
The detailed utensils and kimonos are beautifully depicted, indicating that women in the Meiji era were enjoying the tea ceremony.
Toshikata was a pupil of Yoshitoshi and was nominated as the successor of the family. He was said to be the artist who received the most orders at the time, and the earnest Toshikata could not refuse any commission. In addition to Nishiki-e series such as "Imayo Bijin," he also produced many genre paintings, creating his own unique style of genre painting with gentle elegance.
