松の枝にとまったミミズクの尾羽のあたりに目をこらすと、大きな三日月があることに気付く。
本図の賛には、広重と交友があったと言われる狂歌師、八陣亭 堅城 ( やじんてい かたしろ ) による狂歌「三日月の 船遊山して みみづくの 耳にいれたき 松風の琴」と綴られており、ミミズクが三日月舟の船頭に見立てられている事がわかる。
広重のユーモアの効いた1枚。
