Hiroshige II was a pupil of Hiroshige and was initially known as Shigenobu. After Hiroshige's death in 1858, he became the son-in-law of Hiroshige and assumed the name Hiroshige II. He also participated in Hiroshige's "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" series, and "Akasaka Kiribatake: Evening in the Rain" was inscribed as a "Hiroshige II painting. "
Later, he separated from Hiroshige's daughter Otatsu and continued to produce Yokohama paintings and Kaika-e paintings under the name of Rissho.
