Yoshikazu was a pupil of Kuniyoshi and was active from around Kaei to the 3rd year of Meiji. He painted warriors, flower and bird paintings, and illustrations for Kusazoshi (books). After the opening of the port of Yokohama, he became interested in the lifestyle and customs of foreigners and produced many works as a pioneer of Yokohama painting.
