“Uzumaki” is a Japanese novel by Watanabe Katei, published in 1913. It is a family novel about a dispute over the inheritance of a famous family (family disturbance).
This artwork was produced as a Kuchi-e, an appendix to the book, and is affixed to the book as it was when it was sold.
Kiyokata was a pupil of Toshikata and was already active as a professional illustrator in his teens. He became acquainted with Izumi Kyoka in his youth, and throughout his life, he continued to work with Edo sentiment and the beauty of Ukiyoe.
