Eisen started out painting fragile female beauties like his master, Eizan, but later became popular for his unique and bewitching style of painting.
Her paintings are characterized by a six-headed, long-bodied, hunchbacked female figure that is full of refracted emotions. Eisen portrayed prostitutes in Oka places like Fukagawa and in Yoshiwara brothels as women with a bewitching and strong-willed look in their eyes. This work symbolically represents the decadent aesthetic of the late Edo period, the Bunka-Bunsei period, and shows a strong painting style that reflects the state of affairs at the end of the Edo period.
