This series depicts the Edo people in the manner of the Tale of Genji.
Toyokuni III was a pupil of Toyokuni and took the name Kunisada. He took the name Toyokuni II in 1844. (In reality, Toyokuni III was the third generation of Toyokuni.) His painting period was long, and the volume of his works was enormous.
