長く続いた日本の鎖国が終わり、ついに横浜が開港すると、海外から人々や文化が流れ込んだ。人々の服装などの描写は、人の絵を見たり、話を聞いたりなど、実際に目にしたものでないことも多かったという。
この作品では、オランダ人、南京人（中国人）に混じって、飲み物をふるまう小人までいる。
芳富は、国芳の門人で、江戸末期から明治にかけて活動していた。国芳の死絵を描いた事でも知られている。

When the long period of isolation in Japan ended and the port of Yokohama was finally opened, people and culture flowed in from overseas. The depictions of people's clothing and others were often not based on what artists actually saw, such as by looking at pictures of other artists or listening to the stories.
In this work, there are even small people who serve drinks, mixed in with the Dutch and Nanjing people (Chinese).
Yoshitomi was a pupil of Kuniyoshi and was active from the late Edo period to the Meiji period. He is also known to have painted Kuniyoshi's Shini-e.
