堀田時計店の創業90周年を記念して制作された本作は、堀田時計店がこれまで制作した3作とは一線を画し、モダンな印象の一枚。人物の描写も背景の幾何学模様と心地良く調和し、深水がモデルに対して持つ明るく希望にあふれた印象が伝わってくる。（モデルは深水の娘である、朝丘雪路と考えられている）
伊東 深水が18歳（大正5年）の頃、清方塾生による郷土会展に「対鏡」を出品したところ、渡邊庄三郎の目にとまった。この作品なら彫り摺りの技術を使いこなして木版画にすれば必ず良い作品が制作できると感じた庄三郎は、新版画の制作を決意。以後、大正5年から昭和35年までの間に130点を超える深水の新版画が制作されている。
その後も、日本画家としても文展に入選するなど早くから注目を集め、文展、帝展、新文展、戦後に入って日展を主な舞台として活躍し、日本を代表する美人画家として認められていった。

This artwork was produced to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Hotta Clock Shop.
This piece, the 4th print of the commemorative print of Hotta Clock Shop, is a modern-looking piece, distinct from the three previous works.
The portrayal of the figures blends comfortably with the geometric patterns in the background, conveying the bright and hopeful impression that Shinsui has of the models. (This model is thought to be Shinsui's daughter, Asaoka Yukiji.)
In 1916, when Ito Shinsui was 18 years old, an exhibition of the pupils of Kiyokata was held. Shinsui exhibited "Woman Looking in a Mirror" at the exhibition, and it fascinated Watanabe Shozaburo. Then Watanabe decided to start making woodcut print works of Shinsui, and later, he created over 130 printworks from 1916 to 1960.
