貞秀は国貞の門人で、慶応3年のパリ万博に出品の際には芳宗と共に浮世絵師の総代をつとめた。明治元年の絵師番付において、第1位にもなっている。
有名な川中島の戦いの場面として騎乗から振り被る上杉謙信と風林火山の旗を前に立つ武田信玄が描かれている。

Sadahide was a pupil of Kunisada. In 1867, when he participated in the Paris Expo, he and Yoshimune were representative of the whole Ukiyo-e artist. He also took first place in the ranking of the best Ukiyo-e artist of 1968.
It depicts Uesugi Kenshin, wearing a sword from his mount as a scene from the famous Battle of Kawanakajima, and Takeda Shingen standing in front of the banner of Fu-Rin-Kazan.
