京都に生まれた河原崎奨堂は、友禅染の図案家・山本雪桂に入門し、型友禅の図案を制作する一方で、竹内栖鳳門下の芝原希象より日本画を学んだ。

奨堂が還暦を過ぎてから発行された「日本の花こよみ」シリーズは、緻密な線と鮮やかな色で摺り上げられ、風にゆれる情景まで感じられるようである。

Kawarazaki Shodo, born in Kyoto, was a pupil of Yamamoto Sekkei, a yuzen dye design artist, and created yuzen designs. He also studied Japanese painting from Shibahara Kisho, a pupil of Takeuchi Seiho.

The " Floral Calendar of Japan" series, which was published after Shodo passed his 60th birthday, is printed with fine lines and vivid colors, and even the scenes swaying in the wind can be felt.
