この作品は関野が72歳頃に制作されたものだが、サイズも大きく、亡くなる前年とは思えないほどの迫力を感じさせる。
関野準一郎は中学時代から版画誌を発行し、25歳で上京して恩地孝四郎に師事、棟方志功の教えも受けている。
木版、エッチング、リトグラフなどの技法を駆使し、風景や人物など多様な主題で60年近くにわたり制作を続け、国際的にも活躍した。

Although this work was created when Sekino was about 72 years old, it is large in size and gives a sense of power that makes it hard to believe that it was created the year before his death.
Sekino Junichiro published his own print magazine when he was a junior high school student and became a pupil of ONCHI Koshiro and Munakata Shiko.
His technique isn't limited to just woodcut printing, he was also good at etching and lithographing. He is also popular oversea.
