関屋の里は隅田川のほとり、現在も「千住関屋町」と名が残る辺りにあった。丘の上に大きな松の木、周囲には桜の花が咲き匂い、北斎の「富嶽三十六景」や広重の「名所江戸百景」にも描かれたように、遠くに富士を眺める風光明媚な場所だった。
江戸の花名勝会は豊国三代を中心に、複数絵師の絵を一枚に配した「貼交絵」。江戸町火消「いろは四十八組」の各組を代表する名所旧跡を紹介する趣向で、絵には各組の纏が描かれ、またその地にゆかりの歌舞伎の演目、当時の人気歌舞伎役者などが描かれている。

The Sekiya village was located on the banks of the Sumida River, in the area of 'Senju Sekiya-cho' in the current place name. It was a picturesque place with a large pine tree on the hill, cherry blossoms blooming and smelling all around, and a view of Fuji in the distance, as depicted in Hokusai's '36 Views of Mt. Fuji' and Hiroshige's '100 Views of Famous Places of Edo'.
Flowers of Edo, Collection of Famous Places (Edo no Hana Meisho-e) is a "Harimazee" (pasteboard painting) featuring paintings by several artists, mainly Toyokuni III and others. The paintings are intended to introduce famous places and historic sites representing each of the "Iroha 48" groups of firefighters in Edo, and each group is depicted in its own costume, Kabuki plays associated with the area, and popular Kabuki actors of the time.
