新日本八景は、昭和2年に大阪毎日新聞・東京日日新聞が共同で企画し、美術社が版元となって制作したシリーズ。新しい日本の八景を葉書による投票で募り、風景画8点が制作された。
本作品は、その新日本八景を、後に浮世絵版画刊行会が再版した作品（版木から新しく制作した作品）で、秀峰の美人画作品と組み合わせ頒布された。オリジナルに比べ少し小さなサイズで全10点のセットとなっている。
川瀬巴水は元々日本画家として活躍していたが、大正7年に発表された伊東深水の木版画作品「近江八景」に感銘を受け版画家に転向した。
その後は新版画の第一人者として活躍し、約40年にわたる画業のなかで多くの版画作品を残し、その数は600点にも及ぶ。
巴水の特徴的な青色はその場の空気さえも宿す深い味わいを持ち、「巴水ブルー」と称される。

"New 8 Views of Japan" series was jointly planned by the Osaka Mainichi Newspaper and the Tokyo Nichinichi Newspaper in 1927 and was produced by Bijutsu-sha as the publisher.
They produced eight landscapes by Hasui based on postcard voting for eight new Japanese landscapes.
This artwork is the reproduction set of that series with two portraits of beauties by Yamakawa Shuho, which were reproduced as well.
These works were produced by the Ukiyo-e Print Publication. This set of 10 prints is slightly smaller in size than the original.
KAWASE Hasui was initially active as a Japanese painter but switched to printmaking artist by being impressed by ITO Shinsui's woodblock artwork "Eight Views of Omi," published in 1918.
After that, he became active as a leading artist in the Shinhanga field and left behind many print works in his 40 years of painting, numbering over 600.
Hasui's characteristic blue color is called "Hasui Blue" because it has a deep impression that even includes the atmosphere of the sketched places.
