国丸は初代豊国の門人である。初代豊国門下では国安、国直と並ぶ筆達者で、共に三羽烏と呼ばれた。合巻の挿絵を数多く手がけた他、浮絵や美人画を残したが、37歳という年齢で亡くなった為作品数はあまり多くない。

Kunimaru was a student of Toyokuni I. He was good at painting, as well as Kuniyasu and Kuninao, both of whom were under the Toyokuni school. They were called the "Three Crows." Kunimaru produced many illustrations for books, as well as Uki-e and Bijin-ga, but because he died at 37, he produced few works.
