東海道五十三次で成功した版元の保永堂は、天保6年に木曽街道六十九次の出版を企画する。第11図の本庄宿までは英泉が制作したが、その後は広重が加わり、版元も保永堂と錦樹堂の共版となった。英泉の作品はシリーズ全71枚の内のわずか24枚である上に、初版を除く刷においては英泉の落款が版面から削りとられていることから、この作品は初刷と推測できる。（渓斎英泉の「渓斎」の落款）
また、本作品は風景画であるが、英泉は美人画で名を馳せた人物と知られている。
英泉は、師である英山が描くような儚げな女性の美人画を描いていたが、その後独自の妖艶な画風で人気を博することになる。
6頭身で胴長、猫背気味という、屈折した情念の籠った女性像が特徴である。英泉は深川のような岡場所や吉原遊廓の遊女を、妖艶さと強い意志を湛えた眼差しを持つ女性として描いた。江戸時代の後期、文化・文政期の退廃的な美意識を象徴的に表し、幕末の世情を反映したアクの強い画風を示している。

Hoei-do, the publisher of the successful 53 Stations of Tokaido, published 69 Stations of Kiso Kaido in 1835. Eisen produced up to the 11th station, Honjo-Juku Station, after which he was replaced by Hiroshige and the publishers Hoei-do and Kinju-do jointly published the series. Considering the fact that Eisen's work is only 24 of 71 in the series and that Eisen's signature was removed from the plate in later prints, we can assume that this is a first edition.
Although this work is a landscape, Eisen is recognized as a painter of beautiful women.
Eisen began painting fragile female beauties like his master Eizan, but later became famous for his unique and fascinating painting style.
Her paintings are characterized by a six-headed, long-bodied, hunchbacked female figure full of refracted emotions. Eisen portrayed prostitutes in Oka places such as the Fukagawa and Yoshiwara brothels as women with bewitching and strong-willed looks in their eyes.
