安政６年６月に横浜港が開港して諸外国への扉が開かれると、貿易によって急速に町が発展した。同年11月には、隣接して港崎遊廓が開業し、たくさんの外国人客で賑わった。
貞秀は国貞の門下で、精緻な鳥瞰図を得意とし、明治元年の絵師番付において第１位を獲得するほどの人気を博した。

In November, the Minatozaki brothel opened adjacent to the port, attracting many foreign visitors.
Sadahide, a student of Kunisada, excelled at exquisite bird's-eye views and became so popular that he was ranked first in the Ukiyo-e painter's ranking in the first year of Meiji.
