「二十四孝（にじゅうしこう）」とは、二十四の優れた孝行の話を編纂した中国の書物である。国芳による「二十四孝童子鑑」は、その二十四孝のそれぞれの話に絡めた図を集めたシリーズで、横画面に大きく描かれた絵には風景画としての面白さも見られる。
この「大舜」では、苦労しながらも孝行を続けた舜（しゅん）が描かれている。話の中では、舜は大変孝行な人物であったため、田に行けば象が耕し、鳥が草をとってそれを助けたという。

Mirror of the 24 Paragons of Filial Piety" by Kuniyoshi is a series of prints featuring illustrations related to each of the 24 stories of filial piety, and the large horizontal illustrations are also interesting as landscapes.
This "Taishun" depicts Shun, who continued his filial piety despite his hardships. In the story, Shun was so filial that when he went to the rice fields, elephants plowed the fields and birds helped him by sweeping the grass.
