明治維新後の文明開化によってすっかり様変わりした京橋を描いた一枚。洋装・和装が入り交じり、まさに変化の中に人々が生きる時代の様子を良く伝えている。
井上安治（1864 - 1889）は、明治時代前期の浮世絵師である。当初は芳年に弟子入りしたが、明治11年頃からは清親に師事。明治13年頃には光線画を発表して浮世絵師となった。
安治の描写力は師匠の清親をも凌ぐほどで、作品は詩情を感じさせる優品が多い。
明治17年からは探景と画号を改め、様々な浮世絵作品等も手掛けるようになった。
将来が期待される才能を持っていたものの、26歳の若さで夭折している。

The featured work is a print depicting Kyobashi, which underwent significant changes due to the civilization and enlightenment following the Meiji Restoration. With a blend of Western and traditional Japanese clothing, it effectively captures the essence of an era where people lived amidst transformation.
Inoue Yasuji (1864 - 1889) was a ukiyo-e artist from the early Meiji period. Initially, he apprenticed under Yoshitoshi, but around 1878, he studied under Kiyochika. By 1880, he had begun to publish works of Ukiyo-e.
Inoue's depiction skills were so exceptional that they surpassed even those of his master, Kiyochika, and many of his works are known for their poetic quality. From 1884, he changed his name to Tankei and began working on various Ukiyo-e pieces.
Although he was a talented artist with a promising future, he passed away at the young age of 26.
