「名誉十八番」は、歌舞伎役者 市川團十郎が定めた市川宗家の得意演目、歌舞伎十八番になぞらえ制作された、横二枚続の一連の作品である。
芳年の弟子として知られる年英は師と同じく人物の描写に優れ、その内面や性格を仕草や立ち振る舞い、表情によって見事に伝えている。
年英は芳年の門人として浮世絵を学んだ。躍動感のある人物像からも師である芳年の影響が窺える。日清・日露戦争では戦争画を多く制作し、大正5年に脳溢血で倒れるも伝統的な木版画技術を後世に残すため精力的な活動を続けた。

'18 Acts of Glory' series consists of a pair of horizontal diptychs created in homage to the specialty performances of the Ichikawa family, known as '18 Acts of Kabuki,' established by Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro. Toshihide, renowned as a pupil of Yoshitoshi, excelled in portraying characters, effectively conveying their inner qualities and personalities through gestures, movements, and expressions, much like Yoshitoshi.
Toshihide studied Ukiyo-e as a pupil of Yoshitoshi. The influence of his teacher can be seen in his dynamic portraits. During the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars, he produced many war paintings. Although he collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage in 1916, he continued to work energetically to preserve traditional woodblock print techniques for future generations.
