Yamanaka Kodo was a pupil of Yoshitoshi, and excelled in portrait painting.
From around 1900, he began to produce Kuchi-e, and in the Taisho and Showa eras, he produced Shinhanga.
In this work "After a Bath," he successfully blended the traditional style of Bijin Okubi-e; a close-up portrait of a beautiful woman, which had been handed down from Utamaro, with the Western method of shading. Shopping Guide & Information of the Japanese Prints
