天竺（インド）へ渡航し妖術を身につけたとされる伝説の人物・天竺徳兵衛が、大きな蛙を自在に操る姿がダイナミックに描かれている。怪しげな妖力が漂う中、徳兵衛の堂々たる姿と生き生きとした蛙の描写が、幻想的な物語世界を印象づける。
国輝は国貞の門人で作画期は文政から安政の頃にかけて。初めは貞重と称し弘化4年頃に国輝と改名したという。国輝と改めてからは嘉永から安政にかけて合巻の挿絵を多く手がけ、美人画、役者絵も描いた。さらに安政2年以降は二代国彦と名を改めている。

The print vividly depicts the legendary figure Tenjiku Tokubei—said to have traveled to India (Tenjiku) and acquired magical powers—dynamically controlling a giant frog. Amid an eerie atmosphere charged with supernatural energy, Tokubei’s commanding presence and the lifelike rendering of the frog evoke a fantastical narrative world.
Kuniteru was a pupil of Utagawa Kunisada. His active period spanned from the Bunsei era (1818–1830) to the Ansei era (1854–1860). He initially used the name Teijū, and is said to have changed it to Kuniteru around 1847 (Kōka 4). After adopting the name Kuniteru, he produced many illustrations for popular novels (gōkan) during the Kaei to Ansei eras, and also created bijin-ga (pictures of beauties) and actor portraits. From 1855 (Ansei 2) onward, he worked under the name Kunihiko II.
