ヴァイオリンを弾く女性の、澄んだ佇まいに惹きつけられる一作。その姿は、まさに朝の光を受けてそっときらめく露のよう。清方は、日々の暮らしの中にふと立ちあらわれる情緒を、繊細な筆づかいで丁寧に描き出す。
清方は年方の門下で、十代にしてすでにプロの挿絵画家として活躍していた。青年期に泉鏡花と知り合い、その挿絵を描いたことや、幼少時の環境の影響もあり、終生江戸情緒及び浮世絵の美とは離れることがなかった。
肉筆作品にも力を注ぎ、日本を代表する美人画家のひとりに数えられる。

A quietly captivating portrayal of a woman playing the violin. Her serene presence evokes the shimmer of morning dew touched by gentle light. In this work, Kiyokata delicately renders the fleeting beauty and quiet emotion found within the moments of everyday life.
Kiyokata was a pupil of Toshikata and was already active as a professional illustrator in his teens. He became acquainted with Izumi Kyoka in his youth, and throughout his life, he continued to work with Edo sentiment and the beauty of Ukiyoe.
