福井県越前市岩本町にある岡太神社の、一の鳥居を描いた一枚。
岡太神社・大瀧神社は、越前和紙で有名なこの土地らしく、紙の神様を祀る神社である。
絵の中に描かれている鳥居や石灯籠、石碑は時の流れの中でも変わることなく、現在も同じ姿を参拝者に見せている。
吉田博の長男である遠志は、アメリカ各地をキャンピングカーで周りながら制作を行い、父から受け継いだ伝統木版画の技法を広く世界に普及させた。また、野生動物を求めて南極やアフリカにも訪れ、動物の動きや様子をくまなく観察し、その本質に迫った作品を多く残している。描かれた動物たちは、その種の生き様までも写し取られており、遠志が動物や自然に抱いていたであろう畏敬の念も見て取れる。

This print depicts the first torii gate of Okamoto Shrine, located in Iwamoto-cho, Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture.
Okamoto Shrine and Otaki Shrine are both dedicated to the deity of paper, a fitting devotion for a region renowned for its Echizen washi (traditional Japanese paper).
The Torii gate, stone lanterns, and monuments shown in the composition remain unchanged to this day, standing quietly as they have through the passage of time, welcoming worshippers in the same form as they did in the past.
Yoshida Hiroshi's eldest son, Yoshida Toshi, traveled around the United States in his campervan while creating artworks, spreading the traditional woodblock print technique inherited from his father throughout the world. He had also traveled to Antarctica and Africa in search of wild animals, observing their movements and behavior in every detail. As a result, he has left behind many works that capture the essence of these animals. The animals depicted in his artworks reflect their species' way of life, and we can see the sense of awe that Toshi must have had for animals and nature.
