広重の最晩年の傑作、冨士三十六景の一枚、東都駿河町は、江戸の繁栄と富士の威容を完璧な計算で捉えた作品です。最大の特徴は、画面中央へ吸い込まれるような強烈な遠近法です。左右に並ぶ「三井越後屋（現在の三越）」の建物が、消失点に向かって幾何学的に配置され、その視線の先に左右対称な富士山がどっしりと鎮座しています。

The Suruga District in the Eastern Capital, from Hiroshige’s late masterpiece series 36 Views of Mt Fuji, is a brilliantly calculated composition that captures both the prosperity of Edo and the commanding presence of Mount Fuji.
The most striking feature of the print is its powerful perspective, which draws the viewer’s eye irresistibly toward the center of the image. The buildings of Mitsui Echigoya (present-day Mitsukoshi), lining both sides of the street, are arranged with almost geometric precision as they recede toward a single vanishing point. At the end of this visual corridor, Mount Fuji sits firmly and symmetrically, anchoring the composition with an overwhelming sense of stability and grandeur.
